Uusi Seat Mii

Mii on Seatin uusin ja pienin malli ja pahimmat kilpakumppanit ovat varmasti saman konsernin toinen auto eli Volkswagen Up sekä Fiat 500. Mii ei ole juuri paljoa mopoautoa suurempi, tai niin sitä ainakin voisi ulkoapäin luulla. Yhteistyömme Turun LänsiAuton kanssa jatkuu ja saimme tällä kertaa testattavaksi tuon Seat Miin.
Mii on aika sulavalinjainen näin sivuprofiililtaan. Etuovet ovat suuria ja takaovet ovat hieman pienemmät. Ylimääräistä ei juuri ovien etu- tai takapuolella ole ja ovet aukeavat leveälle sisäänkäynnin helpottamiseksi. Antenni on perinteinen piiska-antenni. Sivupeileissä ei ole vilkkuja ja pyörät on sijoitettu lähelle kulmia. Vanteet ovat 14″.
Edestä Mii on melko pelkistetty. Sen tunnistaa kuitenkin heti Seatiksi. Päivävalot palavat sisäreunassa ja ajovalot syttyvät ulkoreunalle. Konepelti on lyhyt mutta muotoiltu niin, että auton kulmat on helpompi nähdä.
Takaluukku aukeaa suunnilleen takapään keskivaiheilta. Miit ovat aina viisiovisia, joten myös takalasi nousee. Takavalot ovat suhteellisen isokokoiset. Tässä takaluukku ei aukea Seatin logosta vaan sille on oma nappinsa logon alla.
Koeajoyksilössä sisusta oli harmaata ja valkoista. Ratti on sijoitettu aika ylhäälle ja vaikka sitä saikin säädettyä, on se silti ylempänä kuin mihin on yleensä tottunut. Etumatkustajille on tässä autossa varattu suurin tila. Kun Miihin istuu, unohtaa olevansa pienessä autossa. Etumatkustajilla voisi sanoa olevan jopa runsaasti tilaa.
Lokeroita on paljon ja ne ovat suuria. Tavarasäilytykseen siis on myöskin panostettu. Vaihteet ovat samanlaiset kuin toisissakin Seateissa.
Sisustusmateriaali on pääsääntöisesti muovia. Kangasta ei penkkien lisäksi ole käytetty. Onpa ovissa jopa metallia näkyvillä. Ajotietokonettakaan ei tästä kannata hakea vaan informaatio on melko pelkistettyä. Penkeissä oli mukava istua ja ne tukivat yllättävän hyvin selkää. Jalkojen tuki ei riittänyt ehkä aivan tarpeeksi pitkälle, mutta se ei haittaisi kuin vasta oikein pitkillä matkoilla ja sellaisiin ei Mii ole edes suunniteltu.
Ratista saa hyvän otteen, kuten muissakin testaamissamme Seateissa.
Ok eli sanotaan tämä nyt ihan suoraan. Takapenkki ei ole tarkoitettu aikuisille, sinne ei kertakaikkiaan mahdu. Takapenkille sopii kaksi lasta tai vaihtoehtoisesti ostoskasseja mikäli tavaratila ei riitä. Takapenkin keskiosa on korotettu, joten sen ja kolmannen turvavyön puuttumisen takia ei kolmea lasta voi takapenkeille sijoittaa.
Tavaratila on tietenkin tämän kokoisissa autoissa rajoittunut mutta ihmeen paljon tähän on silti tilaa saatu. Pikaisella mittauksella taakse saa mahtumaan noin viisi muovikassillista ostoksia. Tässä paremmassa Style paketissa on myös kahdessa osassa taittuva takapenkin selkänoja jos halutaan laajentaa tavaratila takapenkkien puolelle. Hattuhyllyä pitää nostaa toisella kädellä lastatessa koska se tulee eteen.
Mii on kaupunkiauto ja sellaisena erittäin toimiva. Pitkät välitykset ensimmäisissä vaihteissa saa auton kiihtymään ketterästi. Miitä saa kahdella moottorivaihtoehdolla:
- 1.0 L 60 hv
- 1.0 L 75 hv
Testiauto oli tuo tehokkaampi 75 hevosvoimainen malli, jossa huippunopeudeksi luvataan jopa 172 km/h. Hurja vauhti, koska hetken aikaa satasen vauhtia ajellessamme tuo auton pienuus alkoi tuntumaan pienenä epävakautena. Kaupunkinopeuksissa auto menee ketterästi eikä missään vaiheessa jää isompienkaan jalkoihin.
Parkkeeraus on helppoa, koska auton mitat oppii hyvin ja ne myös näkee. Pienuus ja pieni kääntösäde auttaa myöskin.
Seatin sivujen mukaan tässä olisi myös jonkinlainen generaattori ja jarruenergian talteenotto. Se mihin sitä energiaa sitten käytetään jäi minulle hieman epäselväksi.
Loppupäätelmä
Mikäli haet pientä kaupunkiautoa, on Mii oikein hyvä vaihtoehto siihen. Mii vääntää vahvasti alakierroksilla ja välitykset saavat sen kiihtymään nopeasti. Kiihtyminen ja nopea kulkeminen tulevat tällä autolla kuitenkin hieman varkain, koska mitään nykäisevää ei missään vaiheessa tapahdu. Mii tavallaan liitää liikenteen seassa ja huomaamatta on jättänyt toiset autot kauas taakseen.
Huonoina puolina on ehkä se, ettei taakse mahdu aikuisia. Tämä on kuitenkin ilmeisen tarkoituksellista ja tila on otettu etumatkustajille ja tavaratilalle.

Now let’s talk about Mii. Now that I have tried Mii I have to say that I like Mii. Mii is something you should find, if you want something to glide you through the city traffic.
No, I don’t have a big ego and bad spelling. Mii is the new mini-car from Seat and it’s built to compete with autos like Volkswagen Up and Fiat 500. If you remember my article about Aixam GTO, the moped car, this Mii doens’t seem to be much bigger from the outside. Our co-operation with Turun LänsiAuto continues and they gave me a Mii for a test.
Mii is looking quite smooth from the side. Front doors are big and back doors a little smaller. There is hardly any extra next to the doors and the doors open quite wide. The antenna is traditional. No winkers on side mirrors and the wheels are put to the corners or the car. Wheels are 14″.
The font end is pretty simple and you can tell this is a Seat. Day lights are on the inner corners and the main lights are outside corners. Hood is short but modeled so that you have it easier to see the measures of the car.
The hatch is located pretty much on the middle of the back side. Mii’s are always with 5-doors meaning that also the rear window opens up. Back lights look large compared to the size of the car. The hatch doesn’t open like in the other Mii’s we’ve tested. Now you have the a black button under the Seat logo.
The interior was colored grey and white in this TestMii. Steering wheel is pretty high even though you are able to adjust it up ’n down. This car is designed so that front passengers have quite a lot of space, so much you can’t believe it until stepping in.
There is quite many lockers and storage space so they have invested on the possibility to keep useful things near you. Gearshift feels like in the bigger Seats.
The material used on the interior is mainly plastic. There’s no fabric anywhere except on the seats. There’s even some metal visible on door frames. There’s no point trying to find a fine computer either. The information shown is very basic. The seats were comfortable to sit on and the support they gave to your back was rather good. Seats could have supported legs a bit further but that’s something which is missing on almost every small car. This is meant for short drives in the city so it’s not such a big of a problem.
You can get a good hold from the steering wheel, as is the situation in every Seat we’ve tested.
Ok, let’s make this thing clear right away. The back seat is not designed for adults since you just cannot fit it. You can fit two children there or shopping bags if your trunk isn’t enough. The center of the back seat is lifted so because of that and the missing third seat belt, there is only space for two persons.
As you might have guessed, the trunk space cannot be an enormous in a car this size. It’s still a bit bigger than what you’d expect after the back seat space. With a quick measure, you could perhaps fit in five bags full of groceries. In this Style pack the back seat bends down in two parts and that way you can fit more stuff in.
Mii is a city car and is functioning perfectly as such. Long first gears make it accelerate swiftly. You can get Mii with two different engines:
- 1.0 L 60 bhp
- 1.0 L 75 bhp
Our test Mii was the more powerfull one with 75 bhp where top speed is claimed to be as high as 106 mph. That’s fast considering that when we drove about 60 mph for a while, the car felt a bit restless. On city speeds Mii is going very well and you are not going to be the one slowing down the traffic. On the contrary, you’ll be the one going past the others and glide through the traffic.
Parking Mii is easy because the measurements of the car are easy to acknowledge and see. Being small and having a small turning radius helps too.
According to the Seat web site this has a some kind of a generator too and that it takes in the power from braking. Unfortunately I didn’t find out where this is used on my test drive.
The conclusion
If a small city car is something you are looking for, check out Mii. Mii has good torgue on low rpm and the long gear ratios make it accelerate well. That’s something that’s not very easy to notice though. The acceleration is not something sudden like in a turbo engine. Mii is getting more speed the way you don’t even notice it.
On the negative side there is the fact that adults won’t fit on the back seats. Obviously this is by design and the remaining space is taken for front passengers and to the trunk space.
