Olette varmaan jo nähneet mainoksia tästä uudesta Hyundaista eli i40 Wagon mallista. Elokuussa alettiin mainostella ensiesittelystä vaikkakin oma ensikosketus autoon oli jo heinäkuussa. Nyt takana on lyhyt ajokokemus kolmella eri autolla, joten on ehkä aika kirjoittaakin jo jotain.
Ulkoapäin tämä uusi Korealainen näyttää Mazda 6:lta ja/tai Toyota Avensikselta. Omasta mielestäni siis oikein hyvännäköinen. Hyundai on selvästi alkanut panostaa myös virtaviivaisuuteen ja muutenkin ulkonäköön näissä uusissa malleissaan. Sanoin esimerkiksi aina vanhasta Kia (Hyundain kakkosmalli) Sportagesta, että se näyttää aivan Ladalta. Uusi Sportage on ihan eri maailmasta…mutta eipäs mennä nyt siihen kun aiheena on I40.
I40:stä saa kahdella avainvaihtoehdolla. Niin sanotulla avaimettomalla (tai oikeammin piiloaivaimellisella) ja sitten normaaliavaimellisella. Avaimellisessakin mallissa itse lukkopesä on peitetty muovihässäkällä ja tarkoitus on käyttää kaukosäätöä. Yhdessä autossa tuli esiin, että jos avaat ”avaimettoman” sillä piiloavaimella, pärähtää varashälytin päälle ja huutaa kunnes käytät kaukosäätöä. Hieman hassua mutta eivät näemmä ole yhteydessä toisiinsa.
Siirrytäämpä sisätiloihin, koska ne eivät näytä Mazdalta eikä Toyotalta.
Tuossa kuvassa on navigaattori keskikonsolissa mutta se on varmasti lisävaruste, koska testaamassani ei sellaista ollut. Penkit olivat mukavat ja niissä oli hyvä tuenta. Säätöjä oli sen verran, että omat mieltymykset saadaan varmasti toteututetuksi. Automaattivaihteiston valitsinkeppi on hieman lelumainen verrattuna moneen muuhun merkkiin, mutta silti ihan jämäkkä. Käsijarru on sähköinen ja säätyy vaihteenvalitsimen takaa.
Nappeja on ohjaamossa joka puolella aivan hirvittävästi. Tuntuu, että toimintoja on keksitty tosi paljon ja jokaiselle on oma nappinsa. Ratista löytyy kaiken muun lisäksi vielä Handsfree nappulat. Kojetaulu on oikea valoshow. Päävärinä on sininen ja sitä esiintyy tummana ja todella hailakan vaaleana. Jännä yksityiskohta löytyy taustapeilistä. Kun peruutusvaihde kytketään päälle, peruutuskameran kuva näkyy taustapeilin vasemmassa reunassa. Kätevä juttu, koska peiliä katsoo muutenkin.
Eräs ärsyttävä piirre tästä autostakin löytyy. Todennäköisesti sen saa jonkin valikon takaa pois, mutta joka kerta kun auton sammuttaa niin auto soittaa lyhyen musiikki-lurituksen. Käynnistyksessäkin on oma äänensä, mutta se on huomattavasti lyhyempi eikä ehdi ärsyttää samalla tavalla.
Sisätiloissa on pintamateriaalina käytetty paljon muovimaista tekonahkaa. Tosin ratti tuntui olevan aidommalla nahalla päällystetty, mikä antoikin sille pehmeämmän tuntuman.
Ajo-ominaisuuksiltaan auto tuntuu aika kovalta ja kääntyy herkästi. Hyvä asia on se, että kääntösäde on autossa aika pieni.
Mielestäni I40 ei ole ollenkaan hassumpi auto. Kannattaa se varmasti käydä ainakin koeajamassa jos vähänkään kiinnostaa. Hinnat 1.6 L moottorilla on 25-29 k€ ja 2.0 L koneella 30+ k€ vähän varustelutasosta riippuen.
I’m sure you’ve seen some adverts about this new Hyundai I40 which is a wagon. They started to advert about the premier in august even though my first touch in it was already in July. Now I’ve had a short test with three of them so maybe it’s time I write something.
This Korean looks a bit like Mazda 6 or a Toyota Avensis from the outside. For me it means it looks rather nice. It seems that Hyundai has started to put more effort on design and streamlining. I always used to say about the old Kia (Hyundais sister model) Sportage that it looks like a Lada. The new Sportage looks totally differeent in a good way, but let’s not get in to that because we’re talking about i40 here.
You can get the i40 with both keyless (or hidden key) and with normal key system. You can’t find the lock even in the system with a regular keys because you are meant to be using the remote control. Once it happened to me that I had to open the door in a keyless system with the hidden key. As soon as I entered, the burglar alarm went on and it keps yelling until I used the remote. They don’t seem to be connected.
Let’s get inside because over there it’s nothing like a Mazda or a Toyota.
In the picture above there’s a navigator in the middle of the dashboard, but it must a an extra because I haven’t seen one in any I’ve tested. The seat are confortable and they gave a good support. There is also quite enough possibilities to position the seats so that everyone will find a good position. The gearswitch in automatic was a bit toyish compared to manual. The handbrake is electric and can be set behind the gearswitch.
There are buttons all over the cockpit. It feels that they made up many functions and each of them have their own button. In addition of all the others, there is also handsfree buttons on the steering wheel. The dashboard is a lightshow. The main color is blue and it appears in two shades, dark and light. One nice detail can be found in the rearview mirror. While you are reversing, the picture of the reverse-camera is shown on the corner of the mirror. Clever, because you are looking at the mirror anyway.
This car has one annoying thing too. I’m sure you can switch it off from somewhere but every single time you turn off your car, it plays some kind of a musical tune. Even the start-up has it’s own tune but it’s much shorter and much less annoying.
There is quite a lot of plastic-like artificial leather used inside. The steering wheel looks like it has more authentic leather and that gave it a softer feel.
Chassis felt a bit hard and the car is quite sensitive to turn. One good thing is that the turning radius is not very large.
I think the i40 is not bad at all. Very much worth a test drive if you are even remotely interested. The prizes for the 1.6L engine version varies between 25-29 thousand euros and with a 2.0L engine 30 thousand are more, depending on the features.
